The Prime Minister of New Zealand, Jacinda Kate Laurell Ardern has given her new born the name;
Neve Te Aroha Ardern Gayford – at least it is not a hyphenated Surname.
The name Neve has a sensitive, and reactive side, and will not like to be told what to do as she grows. She will want to do her own thing and will make her mind up on any matter and or interest, and just get up and go without any thought of seeking permission or telling ‘Dad’ or Mum where she’s off to.
She will like being around people and have a great deal of interest in a variety of fields and not be afraid of trying new things as a teenager, as long as the ‘old’s’ don’t know, but she will always be someone people (her friends) will lean on for advice, as she will be a smart little girl but her ‘heart will rule her head’.
A name has a great deal of influence over people and if a name is not in line with a culture, there are usually difficulties and her full name will be weighted with lessons galore, so I feel she may learn the hard way. Imagine a chimpanzee chirping like a bird, or a cow bleating like a sheep. This is an example of a name out of culture with its parents heritage.
Please except I am not making a biased set of views toward the child, I am speaking from experience in excess of 38 years and dealing with troubled baby names, names of those unfortunate souls who end up in difficult times because no-one understands them.
In closing, although some time back when Jacinda was an up and coming in Labour, I wrote to her on issues that I felt were important for our country, such as Identifying Suicide (as I can point out ahead of the dead end trend) and how to get our rivers and farm land back on track … Neve heard a word. Deaf ears and lessons ahead. Oops a typo.
